Please only purchase the JCR Levy once you have access to your official Durham University email account. Personal email addresses cannot be used.

All University College undergraduate students are warmly invited to join the Junior Common Room (JCR), the student‑run community that organises the majority of undergraduate life in Castle. The JCR Levy directly supports the everyday running of the Common Room, enabling the common room to provide all the services listed below and more. By joining, you become part of a diverse and vibrant community and gain access to the full range of JCR activities, facilities like the JCR gym, sports, societies, events, and more. Membership additionally entitles you to significantly discounted ticket prices at formal dinners, JCR balls, and JCR social events, joining and competing in JCR college sports teams, participating in societies, voting in JCR elections, and running for leadership positions within the Common Room.

The Levy pays for the subsidies that make Castle life affordable and accessible, like Freshers’ Week, formals, balls, sports, societies, and major social events. For most students, attending even one or two JCR balls (including June Ball) and joining a couple of Castle sports or societies more than covers the cost of the Levy.
