Membership Subscription

The Middle Common Room (MCR) Levy helps fund the activities, events and facilities provided by Josephine Butler College MCR throughout the 2026–27 academic year.

Purchasing the levy gives postgraduate, mature and fourth-year students access to a range of MCR benefits, including discounted tickets to MCR events such as formals, boat parties and socials, access to levy-only events and activities, and use of the MCR Lounge. Levy holders can also access selected Junior Common Room (JCR) events, including formals and balls, at discounted rates.

Levy membership also allows you to stand and vote in MCR elections, giving you the opportunity to have a direct say in how the MCR is run and to get involved in its leadership. Levy holders are also able to join any club, society or sports team within Josephine Butler College, giving you access to the wider range of activities and communities available across the College.

The levy directly supports the MCR in providing an active and inclusive postgraduate community throughout the year, helping us organise social, academic, welfare and community events while keeping individual event prices as affordable as possible.

The 2026–27 MCR Levy is £50 for one year.

For PGR students, there is also the option to purchase a three-year MCR membership for £150, covering three academic years of MCR membership.
