Membership Subscription

Welcome to the College of St Hild and St Bede! We are so excited to be a part of this new chapter of your life and cannot wait for you to join us. We strongly encourage you to purchase an SRC Membership in order to make the most of being a part of our fabulous College! That being said, we want everyone to feel welcomed and included within our community and are passionate about social mobility, therefore if cost is a concern for you please email hild-bede.src@durham.ac.uk to discuss potential alternative payment arrangements. Whilst we cannot guarantee any adjustments, we will try our best to accomodate everyone.  

The Students Representative Council (SRC) - led by a sabbatical SRC President and supported by an Executive Committee of elected student officers - is the heart of College, existing purely to ensure students are receiving the best possible experience at HB.

In order to operate effectively, the SRC charges all its students a one-off payment which covers your entire time here. We invest all monies collected back into the SRC through provisions for events and societies, subsidised costs for things like ball tickets and sports memberships, and investment into the improvement of our services and facilities.

Students typically find that the Levy will have “paid for itself” after an academic year here. The more involved you get in college, the more value you get out of your levy payment!

By paying your levy, you gain exclusive access to:

• Fresher's Week (you can only purchase the Freshers' wristband if you are an SRC member!)
• Subsidised tickets for events, such as Balls and College Day
• Discounted sports and societies memberships
• SRC equipment and facilities, such as tech equipment, music facilities, and theatrical spaces
• A full-time SRC president, responsible for upholding the efficiency of the SRC, overseeing the planning, running, and finances of all SRC amenities, and representing your issues to the University - ultimately existing to ensure that that you have the best time possible throughout your years as a member of college
• Grant money and extra support (upon application)
• Targeted student-led welfare provisions
• Voting rights and the ability to run for SRC leadership positions
• A financially supported common room!

Please note: Undergraduates may only purchase the 3-4 year membership. Students on a one year course - joining us as part of a year abroad, foundation, or master's programme - are eligible to instead purchase the 1 year membership. If you have accidentally purchased a 1 year membership and are not eligible this will not be valid, please email hild-bede.src@durham.ac.uk for guidance.
