Please note: You may only purchase a Freshers' Wristband if you have purchased an SRC membership (which you may also see referred to as your 'levy'). If you do not have an SRC membership, your wristband is invalid and you will not be able to attend Freshers' Week until the correct membership has been purchased. We will cross-check this before giving you your wristband. The Hild Bede SRC Freshers’ Wristband is the essential ticket to your entire Freshers’ Week at Hild Bede!
The events and activities are entirely student-led, planned and facilitated by our fabulous Freps (Freshers' Reps) – and (we think) it’s the best way to socialise with fellow Hild Beders and jump headfirst into life in Durham!
What you get for your money:
- Two BIG parties to start and end the week – with loads of entertainment and live music!
- Exclusive entry into some of Durham’s best nightclubs: Babylon, Loft, and Klute, giving you a chance to meet fellow students from Hild Bede and other colleges!
- Exclusive access to the Vernon Arms, our College Bar, which will be open before the club nights, and until late for our parties and evening events!
- Your very own Freshers’ T-shirt – a memento to keep for your time at university!
- Access to historic evening events, such as Bedo's Bingo, the Vern Bar Quiz, and the Icebreaker Gameshow, all complete with games, prizes, and much more!
- A range of more chill evening event options including things like Paint and Sip, games nights, and a themed Murder Mystery!
- Fun and varied daytime events such as café and charity shop crawls, a mobile petting farm, crafts, and sport tasters.
- Optional Boat Party (£4 extra. Limited capacity for the boat party so sign up early to avoid disappointment! Sign-up/payment link can be found on the @hildbedefreshers page!)

N.B. Nightclubs in Durham will be very busy during Freshers’ Week, with many exclusively reserved by different colleges. There is no guarantee of gaining entry if you are not part of the college group and many will not let you in without a wristband due to existing capacity agreements with each club. There are lots of scam ‘Freshers’ tickets’ about - avoid these! College wristbands are safe and reputable, and we have booked all venues!
