If your parchment is lost, stolen or damaged, you can order a replacement. A parchment is the word which the University uses to mean your certificate. Your parchment is an official document which proves that you have a University of Durham qualification which includes: undergraduate degrees, postgraduate degrees, certificates and diplomas of higher education.    This is a hard copy only certificate.

• Degree Parchments produced by the University are proof of the conferment of an award and are a unique and valuable document which should be carefully preserved by its recipient.
• Only one copy of your parchment may be in existence at any one time.  Under no circumstances will the University issue additional copies or replacements to any applicant holding an original certificate.
• Replacements have precisely the same standing as the original, which they replace, and are produced in the style that is currently used by the University.
• The loss or destruction of a certificate is of serious concern and a replacement will only be issued at the discretion of the University. The University of Durham reserves the right not to issue a replacement or to specify reasons for its decision.

A transcript is an official copy of your academic record listing modules taken. It is prepared on bespoke transcript paper and is issued by the University of Durham.

The Diploma Supplement allows other universities or employers to understand your qualification in relation to the higher education system of England. This could help you to get a job, continue your education or start more training. The Diploma Supplement is not a replacement for the parchment/transcript and does not guarantee recognition.

A letter on University headed paper confirming the successful completion of your course, dates of attendance and qualification obtained for those that have graduated in the year 2021 or afterwards.    We can add some additional information such as Taught in English.  Please add this information to the Additional Information section.
