St Mary’s College New MCR Academic Gown 2025/2026 (Post Graduates Only)
0St Mary’s is a gowned college, which means that gowns form an important part of our tradition and community identity. Owning an academic gown is essential for certain aspects of the College, and it is a key part of College life throughout the year.
When is the gown required?
An academic gown is compulsory at the following occasions:
- Gowned formal meals with the JCR, MCR, and SCR
- Matriculation Ceremony & Photo
- Matriculation Formal Dinner
- JCR Meetings
- Other College & University events where gowns are specified
Wearing a gown encourages participation in College traditions and helps maintain the formal atmosphere of Mary’s events.
How to Collect Your Gown
Your Gown will be sized at collection and will be done during freshers' week in the MCR, more details will be circulated near the time. Please ensure you order early to be ready for matriculation and the first gowned events of the year else you may not receive your gown in time.
Gown Buy-Back
The JCR will offer to buy back your gown at the end of your course for £15.
