This Event will take place on Wednesday 18th February 2026 at St Cuthbert's Society, Parsons Field, Tom Percival Annexe, Durham DH1 3JP.
The Health and Justice Forensic Research Lab at Durham University and Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys (TEWV) NHS Foundation Trust Health & Justice Services invite you to submit abstracts for an upcoming conference focused on the unique challenges faced by girls and women involved in the criminal justice system.
Early approaches to incarceration, prison design, and community re-entry were predominantly developed with men in mind. This conference is dedicated to shedding light on the distinct experiences, needs, and pathways of girls and women, ensuring future policies and services are truly gender responsive.
We seek contributions that explore the issues particularly unique to or significantly amplified for girls and women in the criminal justice system.
We welcome submissions from academics, researchers, policymakers, practitioners (e.g., healthcare, social work, prison, probation), students, advocates, and individuals with lived experience.
