Staff and students are invited to an event with our Chancellor, Dr Fiona Hill.
The event is now fully booked. However, we are reviewing the list and may need to prioritise on the basis above. So do apply on the basis of places becoming available. Please contact Event Durham: conferenceadministration.service@durham.ac.uk
Following a successful Chancellor in Conversation staff engagement event led by Professor Janet Stewart, a second event with our Chancellor, Dr Fiona Hill is taking place on Friday 8 November 2024 from 1pm to 2.45pm in Mount Oswald Hub.
Dr Hill is an acclaimed foreign affairs specialist, author and former presidential advisor to George W.Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump. Dr Hill will lead a Durham University academic panel conversation of 45-60 minutes, followed by audience questions, that will reflect on the US election results and their wider significance, both domestically and for foreign policy in the US, the UK, and Europe.
Dr Hill will be joined by:
- Dr Tessa Ditonto from our School of Government and International Affairs (SGIA)
- Stephen Evans (former UK diplomat and senior official at NATO and Durham’s Director of Policy Engagement).
Professor Christopher Finlay (Head of SGIA), will serve as moderator for the event, which will be introduced by Dr Renu Singh, Director of SGIA’s MSc in Public Policy. Lucian Hudson (Director of Advancement, Marketing & Communications) is supporting the event with his team and Event Durham.
The audience question and answer session is operating under Chatham House Rules. We encourage open discussion and free sharing information. The rule states that participants can use information from the question and answer session but you are unable to reveal who said it or what organisation they are from.
In the event of oversubscription, priority will be given to the academic staff and their students.
