The 3rd Development Economics Workshop (DEW 2026) will be held on 9–10 June 2026 at Durham University, Business School, Waterside Building.

The 3rd Development Economics Workshop (DEW 2026) will take place on 09-10 June 2026 at Durham University Business School, Waterside Building.

Organised by the Department of Economics at Durham University, DEW 2026 will bring together leading scholars, researchers, and practitioners from across the field of development economics for two days of cutting-edge research presentations, expert-led discussions, and valuable networking opportunities.

This year’s keynote speaker is Professor Oded Galor (Brown University), the founder of Unified Growth Theory and one of the most influential figures in the discipline. The workshop will also feature Mr Kamal Kishore, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction and Head of UNDRR, who brings nearly three decades of experience in disaster risk reduction, climate action, and sustainable development.

DEW 2026 is convened by Professor Habib Rahman (Chair) and Associate Professor Eren Arbatli (Co-Chair),  Durham University.

The networking dinner will be held on 09 June at the historic St John’s College.
