JCR Membership allows you to be an active part of our vibrant student community at Stephenson College. Members are entitled to a number of benefits, including discounted tickets to our events, discounted subs when joining our sports teams and societies, and the ability to shape the community around them via attending JCR meetings, participating in JCR committees, and even standing for elected office!

- 1 Year Membership (Only for Erasmus) - £65
- Update membership option - £105 - Please note: this option is only for existing members needing to update their membership status
Securing your membership will allow you to get fully engaged with life in Durham and at Stephenson College for your degree course, irrespective of where your interests lie, there is something for you in the JCR! MCR/membership benefitsThe MCR is open to all Stephenson postgraduate students, students on integrated Master’s courses, as well as all mature students and 4th years.
MCR membership entitles individuals:
- The ability to attend MCR meetings.
- The ability to vote in and participate in MCR elections.
- Discounted and priority access to MCR and inter-MCR events.
Postgraduate MCR members are also entitled to certain benefits of JCR membership, including:
- The ability to attend JCR meetings.
- The ability to vote in and participate in JCR elections.
- Discounts to signature JCR events.
- Discounted membership to JCR sports teams and societies.
The Middle Common Room (MCR) is the heart of Stephenson’s postgraduate community, bringing together Masters, PhD, and mature students in a welcoming and supportive environment. While integrated with the wider Junior Common Room (JCR), the MCR offers a unique space tailored to the postgraduate experience, aiming to provide connections between individuals at a similar stage of study and life. Through academic, social, and welfare-focused events, the MCR provides opportunities for professional growth, interdisciplinary discussion, and lasting friendships. Our mission is to ensure that postgraduates feel represented, supported, and engaged within college life, while also benefiting from the wider activities and opportunities offered across Stephenson:
