Purchase of New Academic Gown

Gowns are an important part of the history of University College dating back to its founding in 1832. They are worn at formal events throughout the year and at Matriculation during Induction Week.

In line with our sustainability commitments, the MCR is also offering second hand gowns at £25. There is very limited availability, and size limited availability. If you wish to purchase a second hand gown, please email international.castlemcr@durham.ac.uk.

The gown collection will take place on the following dates:

• Saturday, 28th of September 2024 between 1PM - 2PM in the Bishops Dinning Room
• Wednesday, 2nd of October between 3-4:30PM in the Bishops Dinning Room

NOTE: You need the gown to attend matriculation and Castle formals.
