The Ustinov GCR Induction Formal is the first of six formals that students can attend with Ustinov GCR, offering a vibrant introduction to life at Durham. As the opening event, it gives students their first chance to meet peers in a college renowned for its international community, hosting students from over 90 nationalities. More than just a dinner, the Formal allows students to get to know the people they’ll be spending the rest of the year with, fostering connections that will define their graduate experience. Guests can mingle with fellow students and college staff, enjoy formal speeches, and immerse themselves in the spirited atmosphere that makes Ustinov College unique.

Venue: Mount Oswald Hub
Dress Code: Traditional wear is encouraged; alternatively, lounge suits, cocktail dresses, formal gowns, and suits are also welcome.

Schedule

• 18:00 – 18:30: Entry

• 18:45 – 19:00: High Table Procession (all must be seated by then)

• 19:00 – 19:15: Speeches

• 19:30 – 20:30: Dinner

• Oven-roasted chicken breast with Café de Paris butter, fondant potato, carrot and anise purée, tenderstem broccoli, and tarragon sauce

Dessert

• Tiramisu with cookie ice cream and Amaretti crumb (v)

After the event, everyone is welcome for a drinks reception at the Paddle!
