Stephenson College warmly invites all students to our Railway 200 Locomotion Dinner on 16 October 2025. Join us for an opulent Orient Express themed evening, with guests dressed in elegant attire, jazz music and decor reflecting the glamorous train journey - what a way to start the new academic year!

2025 marks the 200^th anniversary of the birth of the modern railway. The Stockton & Darlington Railway opened on 27 September 1825 connecting places, people, communities and ideas and ultimately transforming the world. It was the world's first public railway, engineered by George Stephenson, to use steam locomotives.

Please gather at 18.30 in Platform 1, Wylam. A two-course dinner will be served in Saltwell from 19.00. The dress code is smart with a 1930s twist! Creativity is strongly encouraged. No hoodies, jeans, or trainers permitted.

Tickets cost £5.00 for dinner. Wine and soft drinks are optional extras.

The registration deadline is Friday 3 October at 09.00am. Please ensure you detail any allergens or dietary requirements you may have on the sign-up form.
