Michaelmas Dinner and SCR High Table with an IAS lecture by Dr Youssri Abdelwahed and a post-dinner talk by Moud Goba, a founding member of UK Black Pride.

Michaelmas Dinner is our annual charity dinner, open to all students at St Mary’s. This year the theme is “One World, One Mary’s” and will be in support of Micro Rainbow.

The dinner will be followed by a talk in Kenworthy from award-winning guest speaker Moud Goba. Moud is a Zimbabwean LGBTQIA+ human rights activist. She is a refugee in the UK and is one of the founding members of UK Black Pride. She currently serves as Director of Micro Rainbow, who support homeless LGBTQIA+ people seeking asylum, housing 29,000 homeless LGBTQIA+ people every year.

Following the talk, the evening will conclude with a cultural showcase featuring a vast array of spectacular student performances, including Bollywood (to mark the end of Diwali 2023) and South American dances, traditional Chinese music, Danish singing, Slovakian poetry, and much more!

Cultural attire (e.g. cheongsam,wafuku,hanbok,sari,sulu,kroje,kitengeorpagne)

Menu:

STARTER

Seasonable vegetable soup with salt and pepper croutons (vegan)

MAIN

Braised beef, beef shin bon-bon, cheddar and spring onion mash, roasted roots, crispy onions and bourbon sauce

OR

Wild mushroom pithivier, sautéed kale, roasted celeriac and red wine sauce (vegan)

DESSERT

Sticky toffee pudding, salted caramel sauce and vanilla cream

OR

Vegan sticky toffee pudding (vegan)

£22.50 for Livers Out
