Secret Gardens of South Bailey

Join St John's College and St Cuthbert's Society for a unique opportunity to explore the hidden gardens and historic spaces of Durham's South Bailey, many of which are rarely open to the public.

Follow a guided journey through this remarkable corner of Durham's World Heritage Site, beginning with exploring the ecology of the gardens with horticulturalist and heritage gardener Ross Pearson, uncovering their hidden history with conservationist Martin Roberts, and concluding with historian Dr Adrian Green's talk, The Bowes Family House in the South Bailey.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore St Mary the Less, St John's 12th-century chapel, and enjoy a traditional cream tea served in the College's Dining Hall and gardens.

Tickets:£10 per person (includes cream tea). Children under five are free. Two start times are available: 1:00pm and 2:00pm.

Advance booking is essential.
