On Thursday 23 January, Grey College community will come together to celebrate Burns Night and the very best of Scottish culture at our Burns Night Formal!
Each year people in Scotland and around the globe celebrate the life, works and legacy of one of their greatest storytellers - Robert Burns. The first Burns supper is thought to have taken place over 200 years ago in 1801, where friends of the late poet came together to raise a toast to his influential and entertaining poetry and writing.
Join us for a fantastic evening celebrating all the Burns Night traditions, such as pipping in the haggis, Cal addressing the haggis and of course a Burns poem or two! The dinner will be followed by a traditional ceilidh in the JCR, which is sure to be a lot of fun!
The cost is £17.38 for SCR members, and members can order wine with their dinner at the time of booking.

Chicken breast stuffed with haggis
wrapped in smoked bacon, neeps & tatties, tender stem broccoli and a whiskey, sauce

Vegetarian haggis and wild mushroom Wellington,
neeps & tatties, tender stem broccoli and a grain mustard sauce

Bookings and Cancellations
Bookings close at 9am on Thursday 16th January 2025 or when the formal sells-out, whichever is sooner. Places can be cancelled until bookings close. After this time, no cancellation or refund will be possible. To cancel a place before this time, please log-in to your Ecommerce account and cancel it, and then please email grey.college@durham.ac.uk so the payment can be refunded.
