Join us for an evening of wine, cheese, and conversation after a lecture by author Stephen Platten, who will take us for a jaunt through the history of the erstwhile Shell County Guides and Shell's historic marketing campaigns. His talk will be illustrated with Shell’s classic advertising posters, some of which may be quite surprising to modern eyes.

Stephen Platten is the former Dean of Norwich and Bishop of Wakefield. He is now retired and lives in Northumberland. Stephen has written and published many books, including Northumberland: A Guide, written in the tradition and spirit of the historic Shell County Guides. Signed copies will be available to purchase on the evening at a discounted price.

The evening will begin with Stephen's lecture in the Old Library at 7:30 PM, and then move to the SCR for drinks and snacks. The cost is £11.
